Allan’s Expertise: Mastery Over Canine Behavior

Boasting over a quarter-century in dog training, Allan has honed the art of understanding man’s best friend.

At CONTROL CANINE, we recognize that each dog is an individual. Their quirks, personalities, and needs vary, making a one-size-fits-all approach ineffective. Our mission? To tailor training to each dog’s unique character.

From teaching basic etiquettes to addressing intricate behavioral challenges, our approach goes beyond just training the dog. We empower you, the owner, with the skills to foster a lasting bond through effective communication. Our engaging techniques promise not just well-behaved pets, but joyful companionship.

More Than Just Training – It’s a Partnership

Pet training is a two-way street. While we guide your furry friend, it’s essential that you, as the pet parent, are in sync with our methods. Our training programs are crafted to seamlessly fit into your lifestyle, ensuring consistency and effectiveness. With our strong ties to the veterinary community and our commitment to adaptable programs, Control Canine is your premier destination for quality dog training.

We come to Allan at Control Canine all the way from Michigan! He worked with our Belgian Malinois for a year before we brought him home, Vader has the most wonderful temperament, is controlled and obedient in all situations and environments. We now only board with Allan because we know our sweet boy will be in the best care.

Allen trained my first mini bull terrier Coca, and I couldn't have been happier with the results. He has also given me so much advice on dogs and training. Sending your dog to train with Allen is one of the best things you can do. I can take all my dogs anywhere off leash thanks to him. He can also train you to train your dogs, which is especially valuable, having multiple dogs.

Allan is THE BEST dog trainer!!! We started working with him when my Labrador retriever was just 3 months old. I take my dog everywhere and people constantly comment on his excellent behavior. Allan has a very special way with dogs, he's an absolute genius and my dog adores him. Truly amazing.

Our Training System (DRS)

The Dual Reward System, abbreviated as “DRS,” embodies the concept of “Negative Positive Positive”. This innovative approach integrates both affirmative reinforcement (reward-based training) and adversarial reinforcement (employing pressure or aversion and subsequently withdrawing it to stimulate a desired behavior) in order to attain exceptionally dependable canine behaviors, even amidst distractions.

Outlined below is a comprehensive overview:

Negative: Signifies the application of negative reinforcement. This does not entail punitive actions. Rather, it entails the cessation of a mildly discomforting stimulus upon the dog’s execution of the desired behavior. For example, gently tugging on a leash (the aversive stimulus) and releasing it upon the dog’s approach.

Positive: Denotes positive reinforcement. This encompasses acknowledging the dog’s accomplishment of the targeted behavior through treats, accolades, or playthings.

Positive: The second instance of positivity pertains to the “emotional positive.” The objective is to cultivate a positive emotional experience for the dog during training and the behaviors exhibited.

The Dual Reward System, or DRS, strives to nurture a canine companion that exudes eagerness and precision, transcending mere compliance driven by apprehension or rewards alone. Rooted in the core principle of establishing a robust connection and mutual comprehension between the dog and the handler, this method fosters the dog’s inclination to collaborate with the handler due to the shared rapport, rather than relying solely on external incentives.

Nevertheless, analogous to all training methodologies, the Dual Reward System has its advocates and critics. A comprehensive grasp of the approach and its meticulous implementation are imperative for those electing to adopt it. Equally vital is the alignment of the method with personal convictions and the unique requisites of the individual dog.
